The sign in our window for the lovely couple

On October 5, 2013, Elena and Rob had their wedding celebration at Enoch Turner Schoolhouse in Corktown.

What a perfect setting for this stylish and fun couple.  Enoch Turner is a Victorian – era school that was built in 1848 with an adjoining West Hall added in 1869.  It is also the first free school in Toronto and today is the oldest school still standing.

It is part of the heritage trust which also include the venue spaces; George Brown House and the Ontario Heritage Centre.

The overall wedding had a 1950’s vintage feel to it.  Elena and her gals looked alluring in their cocktail length dresses while the groom and his groomsmen looked very dapper in their suits and bow ties.

Elena collected teapots and teacups to use as vessels for the flowers for her centerpieces.  She also painstakingly made table runners with book pages that were taped together and edged with a press that made them look like a doily which added to the vintage charm.  Gorgeous flags were strung along between the beams of the ceiling and books wrapped with craft paper and lace were added as additional props to the tables.

The flowers consisted of a lovely mix of pink, white and green flowers. The garden like flowers included lysianthus, roses, astilbe, queen anne’s lace, snowberry and thlaspia with accents of fragrant wax flower and seeded eucalyptus.

The overall feel for this wedding was so charming and intimate that once we completed the set up,  we just knew a good time would be had by all.

Nothing could possibly bring this fashionable couple to their wedding quite like a stunning pistachio cream coloured Cadillac.

Congratulations to Elena and Rob.  Best Wishes to this fun couple for a lifetime of happiness.

The Colourful Season

Beautiful pumpkin from the Chelsea flower market in NYC

Beautiful pumpkin from the Chelsea flower market in NYC

Ahhhhhhh………Autumn.   This  particular season brings us fresh brisk air, the harvest from our local farmers and stunning warm colours to make one’s soul dance.

The gals here at Linden Grove love this time of the year.  The beauty is all around in so many forms.

The markets are brimming with fruits and vegetables in the most glorious tones.   Everything from crimson red, orange and dusty green to rich plum tones, hot pinks and vibrant green.  Although the Autumn tends to conjure up images of fiery tones, we do prefer more monochromatic mixes of flowers.  We feel each colour should show off individually.

It is more appealing for us to mix very hot orange tones with chartreuse green rather than yellow………that just seems too expected.

White mixed with brown  is another favorite colour blend of ours as the magnolia leaves with their shiny green upper leaf and brown velvety under side of the leaf are just so striking and beautiful.

Mauve and purple tones married with a rich crimson red is just ooh-la-la decadent and we like that a lot!

Here are various photos of our designs and the markets that inspire us so.

Enjoy this most joyous time of year.

Event at The 5th in Toronto

Alleyway converted to a lounge in downtown Toronto

Alleyway converted to a lounge in downtown Toronto

Well, this was quite a fun event to be a part of. We got to use local and native white and green product to create a very earthy and lovely environment for a corporate celebration.

This event was held at The 5th at Duncan and Richmond in downtown Toronto. The alleyway was converted into a sleek lounge area and the shabby chic design was just perfect in this rustic location.

The highlight of these pieces was the unforgettable fragrance that permeated from the gorgeous sweet peas and mock orange.

The interior was graced with simple glass vases mixed with lovely alchemilla, allium, eupatorium, vibernum, spirea and hosta leaves.
Enjoy the photos and have a wonderful day.
